About me

Hello!

I'm Matthias and I founded Jimbeels in autumn 2018. I discovered the online business for myself on Facebook in a group for T-shirt sellers.

In my life, I had vague thoughts of becoming self-employed from time to time. However, I never had a concrete plan or intention. It was more of a daydream about what it could mean to be an entrepreneur.

The year 2018 - I was 38 years old

I had known for a long time that I would lose my job at the University of Stuttgart at the beginning of 2019, as the institute where I worked was to be closed. The picture you see is from a laboratory there. It was a good job and I am grateful for that time and my colleagues as well as supervisors. There, I learned what true collegiality and a friendly everyday interaction in business means. Even today, I maintain friendly contact with my former colleagues. I think and hope the picture reflects that (even though, for data protection reasons, I can only show myself alone).

The knowledge of the impending job loss was an incentive - but I wouldn't say it was the only reason - to become an entrepreneur. For several months, I still considered pursuing it as a side job. But the longer the journey went on, the clearer it became to me: I want to be an entrepreneur for the rest of my life. Somehow, it had gripped me. Even though I had to grow into it, and today I can say: I still have to.

While I was very focused on Amazon at the beginning - and it is still an important marketplace for me today - I quickly realized that I wanted to have my own shop. To take care of customers the way I want to. To present my products the way I want to. Even if not everything is perfect yet, and it's certainly a never-ending process: You can see the result here.

So I'm still in the middle of my story - as everyone is at every point in their life - and I'm happy if I could take you along for a little bit.
